# Land

Learn about the concept of land in a metaverse.

## What are land?

A metaverse is a network of 3D virtual worlds focused on social connection, occupied by real people who might not be in the same physical space.

Land, in a metaverse, are virtual representations of space that can be owned in the form of an NFT by various members of the metaverse’s community.

Each land often represents a unique value proposition, which might be uniform (“All grassy land are identical”) or feature mixed-and-matched random or procedurally chosen attributes (“This grassy land has a river and is rich in ore”).
